AVARTIM
Advanced Visual Analytical Reasoning for Technology and Innovation Management
Angesichts steigender Wettbewerbsanforderungen und hoher Marktdynamik werden das frühzeitige Erkennen von technologischen Trends und der gezielte Umgang mit Markt- und Technologiesignalen für Unternehmen immer wichtiger. Im Rahmen des Vorhabens soll mit „AVARTIM“ ein softwaregestützter Prozess zum Erkennen und Bewerten von Trends, Markt- und Technologiesignalen entwickelt werden, um den Prozess des Innovations- und Technologiemanagements nachhaltig zu unterstützen. Dabei soll im Rahmen des Vorhabens eine Infrastruktur an der Hochschule Darmstadt aufgebaut werden, die modular ist und somit auf technologische Veränderungen schnell reagieren kann. Die zu entwickelnde Infrastruktur dient hierbei als Vorlaufforschung und Ausgangstechnologie sowohl für den industriellen Einsatz durch und mit den KMU Partnern als auch zur Beantragung von Verbundvorhaben. Dabei wird zunächst eine Beteiligung an der LOEWE- Förderlinie 3 des Landes Hessen und im weiteren Verlauf an der Ausschreibung zu LEIT-ICT / Big Data Technologien der EU angestrebt.
Seinen innovativen Charakter erhält AVARTIM durch die Integration einer ganzheitlichen Datentransformation von heterogenen Rohdaten bis hin zu visuell-interaktiven Analyse Werkzeugen, die den Menschen befähigen sollen, komplexe Sachverhalten zu verstehen, Schlussfolgerungen herzuleiten und Entscheidungen zu treffen.
Dabei wird der Fokus im Rahmen dieses Vorhaben auf jene Trends und Signale gesetzt, die im technologischen Lebenszyklus sehr früh erscheinen. Diese Informationen können in erster Linie aus Konferenzbeiträgen, Journalen und Primärliteraturquellen (WTI-Frankfurt, Springer, CrossRef etc.) gewonnen werden.
Das Potential dieser frühen Trends ist oft nicht gut genug einschätzbar, um sie in den Markt einzuführen. Genau an dieser Stelle setzt AVARTIM ein und ermöglicht durch die automatische Extraktion von „Phrasen“ und „Themen“ (Textmining) Ähnlichkeiten zu anderen erfolgreichen Technologien zu erkennen und im visuellen Analyseprozess Hypothesen zu erstellen.
Das technologische Alleinstellungsmerkmal von AVARTIM liegt in der Wechselwirkung von Mensch und Computer, bei dem die Nachteile der maschinellen Lernverfahren zur Informationsextraktion, insbesondere Textmining durch einfache visuell-interaktive Lösungen und damit durch den Menschen selbst kompensiert werden. Als Ausgangpunkt der wissenschaftlichen Daten dienen sowohl die TEMA-Datenbank des Kooperationspartners WTI-Frankfurt als auch Open Access Daten unterschiedlicher Datenanbieter, wie etwa Springer oder CrossRef. C21-Consulting GmbH und dk&company GmbH als Experten im Bereich der Strategieberatung werden den Einsatz der entwickelten Technologien mit verschiedenen Klienten testen und validieren. Die Ergebnisse fließen dann wieder in den Entwicklungsprozess ein, so entsteht ein iterativer Prozess der Forschung, Validierung und Entwicklung.
Des Weiteren wird der Lehrstuhl Technologie- und Innovationsmanagement am Fachbereich Rechts- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften das Projekt wissenschaftlich aus wirtschaftlicher Perspektive begleiten.
Das Projekt wird finanziert aus dem Förderprogramm "Forschung für die Praxis" des Hessischen Ministeriums für Wissenschaft und Kunst.
The early awareness of new technologies, upcoming technological and methodical trends and innovation is essential for making strategic decisions in enterprises and research. Trends may signal that technologies or related topics might be of great interest in the future or obsolete for future directions. The identification of such trends premises analytical skills that can be supported through trend mining, machine learning, Artificial Intelligence, Visual Analytics, simulation and economical approaches that validate the automatically detected or explored emerging technologies and innovations. Thus, the earliest trends or signals commonly appear in science, the investigation of digital libraries in this context is inevitable. However, digital libraries do not provide sufficient information for analyzing trends. It is necessary to investigate the entire digital data transformation, e.g. integrate data, extract information from the integrated data and provide effective interactive visual analysis tools. These data are just one resource that the European Commission will probably address in the new Framework as the current suggestions imply. The strategic alliance will therefore consider a variety of data and focus in particular on huge amount of data, streaming data and unexplored free data from social networks.
The main goal of this project is to create a sustainable European strategic alliance to foster European research and innovation in the area of Visual Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Simulation, Prediction and Planning of emerging technologies and innovations for business and eGovernance. The strategic alliance is set up for a long period and serves the purpose to discover continuously new opportunities to strengthen the European activities of the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. It aims at investigating various European funding and networking opportunities and submitting proposals to the various European research‐related programs. This project targets networking activities to help setting up the strategic alliance.
The Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences is setting up in the project “Trend Analytics for Society” a network of partners from science, politics and business to identify the economic and societal effects of events, decisions and trends at an early stage and enable actors making appropriate decisions from different perspectives. With currently seventeen partners from 10 European countries, the aim is to optimize and use technological and methodological innovations to identify early trends in the fields of politics, business, education and research and to develop adequate solutions to the identified challenges. The interdisciplinary European network relies on the expertise of the involved partners, who are internationally renowned in their respective fields. From a technological point of view, methods of digitization, artificial intelligence, visual analytics, data analytics and simulation will be optimized and used for different application scenarios. Thereby, the actors in the respective areas define the challenges themselves, whereby data-driven trends will also be identified. The validation of the results is also carried out by the actors of the respective areas. Therefore, a network of interdisciplinary partners has been established who are able to qualitatively define and assess those challenges and solutions. With this initiative, the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences is pursuing a sustainable European research network with the aim of strengthening European research in the field of early detection of political, social, technological and economic trends.
